Pantomime 2020 – Jack and the Beanstalk

NOVEMBER UPDATE – Following the government announcement of a national lockdown lasting from 5th November to 2nd December, we are pleased to say that the show still goes on! We are hard at work putting together our pantomime for you all, and can’t wait to see you all this December for some Cresset Christmas magic! Thank you all for your support so far – we’ll see you when our panto gets started on 12th December!

Panto Update: 14th October – on sale now!

Following the government announcement on 15th August that socially distanced indoor performances are able to go ahead, we are proud to present an adventure full of festive family fun this Christmas with a brand new, socially distanced production of Jack & The Beanstalk, running from 12 to 24 December. Join Jack as he reaches new heights on a giant adventure up the beanstalk – it’s sure to be full of fee, fie, fo, fun!

Audience safety is of course the priority and so we have designed a production that is Covid-secure for cast, crew and audiences. The auditorium (which will be disinfected between every performance) will be operating at a reduced capacity, the audience will be seated in their groups at socially distanced tables (with a maximum of 6 people per table) and the production will be smaller and more intimate than previous Cresset pantos – but there’s no doubt that it will have the same pantomime magic!

Other measurements in place include a reduced show runtime with no interval to prevent crowding; temperature checks on arrival; pre ordering options; one-way systems in operation to allow for social distancing, plus the cast and crew will be adhering to government guidelines during all rehearsals and performances.

You can read more about our socially distanced performances and how we are keeping audiences safe here

Customers who had already booked tickets for Jack & The Beanstalk are being contacted directly by the Box Office – with the option of converting their booking to the new production, transferring tickets over to The Cresset’s 2021 pantomime, or receiving a refund/gift vouchers. Tickets for the 2020 production were off sale while we contacted those customers who have already booked, but are now back on general sale with all seats priced at £15.

Also on the team are Victoria Jane who makes a welcome return, and new faces Richard Mann and Vanessa Boland are joined by Philip Norton as Dame Trott. With special appearances from Babs the cow and a truly terrifying Giant (voiced by PCR’s Kev Lawrence) it’s shaping up to be a great show!

Panto Press Day looked a little different this year, but our cast were in high spirits as we spent the day at The Cresset – here are some highlights! Photos by Chris Brudenell.

The lovely folks at Tyrannosaur Creative have been hard at work creating a whole bunch of teasers and trailers for our 2020 pantomime – have a watch!

Due to the socially distanced nature of the show we have been unable to include children in this year’s production.

We hope to be back with full auditions next year!
