PERFORMING ARTS

The Cresset’s thriving performing arts programme provides opportunities for all ages and abilities to explore their individuality and celebrate their community through the arts. The programme provides an excellent grounding for children and young adults interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts, with a number of young people from the programme progressing to successful careers in the West End or as professional actors.

The Cresset hosts weekly dance and drama classes within the purpose-built dance studio on the first floor. Opened in 1997 with funding from the National Lottery, the air-conditioned dance studio is equipped with a sprung dance floor, full-length mirrors and barres. Students from age 3 up to adult enjoy a diverse mix of dance classes including ballet, street dance, contemporary dance, tap, and fitness classes. Larger classes and workshops also take place in the air-conditioned Studio 2 on the ground floor.

With all styles of dance, from Ballet to Zumba, The Cresset Dance Studio hosts a wide range of classes 6 days a week. Many of the groups also stage annual performances in the theatre.

For more information on the class programme contact us on 01733 265705.

The Cresset’s Performing Arts Development Officer puts on these performances and works closely with local schools and groups.
