The Cresset is Peterborough’s foremost community venue, with a diverse mix of community events and activities under one roof. Here you will find the Bees in the Hive pre-school day nursery, a soft-play centre, library, church, shops and a twice-weekly market, as well as a number of associations providing advice and assistance, including the Kingfisher Centre, Cresset Day Care Centre, and Goldhay Arts.

In 2003 The Cresset won the first ever Peterborough Evening Telegraph award for its Contribution to the Community.

The Cresset’s 2009 merger with the YMCA, which runs 86 community flats on the upper floor of the centre, has increased community provision at The Cresset, notably with the opening of the YMCA gym, which includes specialist equipment for people with disabilities.
